of AI strategy within their business and with the focus of work-life balance is identifying which tasks today need to be automated or can be automated versus those tasks that are enriching your team's ability at the end of the day. And so you've got to start by mapping out which workflows exist that help you distinguish between that repetitive, low-value, low-effort type work versus those efforts that require creativity, that require problem-solving and collaboration with your team, tasks and enrichment activities that your team benefit from. And then you have to really make sure that your team is creating and cultivating this mindset of just continuous learning. You also need to be focused on that cross-functional collaboration, that you're making sure that your marketing teams and that your support teams, your services teams, your IT teams, as they leverage the tool and as they learn from it and get better at it, that they're collaborating with each other on how to influence each other to get that better outcome that you would expect. You got to entertain and organize those feedback sessions and then provide coaching and support where you feel that it's necessary just so you get that right adoption. And then you continue to measure and reiterate and make changes as you need to make it so the team is successful at the end of the day when they're adopting AI.

TL;DR

  • Map workflows to identify repetitive, low-value tasks for automation while preserving creative, problem-solving work that enriches teams
  • Foster continuous learning and cross-functional collaboration across marketing, support, services, and IT teams as they adopt AIOps
  • Implement feedback sessions, coaching, and iterative measurement to ensure successful AI adoption and team productivity gains

Summary

Sterling Parker, Ivanti's Senior Vice President of Global Services and Solutions, outlines a strategic framework for IT leaders implementing AIOps to improve work-life balance and team productivity. The approach begins with workflow mapping to distinguish between repetitive, low-value tasks suitable for automation and enriching activities that require creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. Parker emphasizes the importance of cultivating a continuous learning mindset across teams and fostering cross-functional collaboration between marketing, support, services, and IT departments. Success requires organized feedback sessions, targeted coaching, and iterative measurement to ensure proper adoption. The framework positions AI implementation not as a technology deployment but as an organizational change initiative that requires deliberate planning around which work to automate versus which work energizes and develops team members.

FAQ

What's the first step IT leaders should take when implementing an AI strategy?

Leaders should map out existing workflows to identify which tasks can be automated (repetitive, low-value work) versus those that enrich the team through creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.

How can organizations ensure successful AIOps adoption?

Success requires cultivating a continuous learning mindset, enabling cross-functional collaboration between teams, organizing feedback sessions, providing targeted coaching, and continuously measuring and iterating on the implementation.
