The partnership with Veeam ensures CEWA has a robust data strategy, we have enhanced security features, we have rapid recovery, all of that leads to ensuring our sensitive, our student and our administrative data is protected, and in the case of an emergency, we can recover. Hi, I'm Lee Swift, the Chief Information Security Officer at Catholic Education Western Australia. I'm Mike Kovacevic, Chief Information Officer at Catholic Education Western Australia. CEWA is a system of Catholic schools, 162 in total, employing 12,000 staff roughly and 81,000 students at the moment. Our policy is very much cloud first and even within that setting, software as a service, and we needed a tool that sort of plays in that space, that can scale and keep up with the changes as they occur. Catholic Education Western Australia was looking for a solution to be able to ensure we had data resilience across our Office 365 data suite. So we did look at a number of different solutions, Veeam actually chose us in a way, so Veeam selected to invest a lot of time getting to understand who we are and what we needed to come up with the perfect solution and they certainly did. When implementing Veeam Data Cloud for CEWA, it was surprisingly fast. We had a call within 40 minutes, we actually had data being backed up. Now for us this was amazing, we were thinking we'd have to get a whole project team together to be able to do something at the scale of CEWA, with over a petabyte of data. The team was happy to have our data protected. As CEWA's CIO, Veeam actually helps me sleep at night. It ensures that in the worst event, if we were subject to a cyber attack, we'd be able to restore and keep our schools going. CEWA's been really impressed with Veeam's enhanced security features. While trying to align to Australia's Essential 8 program, that includes MFA, which Veeam easily covers, but also offers a robust RBAC solution so we can delegate down the appropriate level of access to the appropriate level of people. That means if a school needs to restore, they can, but at the head office we can do the mass restore if that is ever needed, and hopefully it won't be. Veeam was able to meet our data protection needs, including we have data that from regulations we have to keep for 99 years. In order to meet our 2030 growth targets, it's really important that CEWA provides digital services to our students and continues to be able to do so, even in the event of cyber attacks. Veeam provides that layer of resilience and security that we didn't have before, where we can now guarantee that we can recover no matter what comes our way. CEWA selected Veeam as our data protection partner really because of the security features that Veeam offered. We needed a robust solution that can deal with 100,000 users and the petabyte of data we need to back up. We need to ensure that that data is recoverable at a speed that ensures minimal downtime for schools, for administrators, and for all those who really are part of delivering quality Catholic education in Western Australia.
