5 Priorities for AI Readiness in Financial Services

My name is Michelle Bushman, and I am the CIO for American Pacific Mortgage. There's five things that I think every organization in financial services in the mortgage space in particular need to be prepared for. If your organization is not looking at adopting AI, taking on a little bit of risk to push yourself a little bit further ahead, you're going to lose out. As we've moved to hybrid cloud off of monolithic systems and into more driven cloud-based solutions, APIs, microservices, it's changing how we need to secure our organizations. It's very different than it used to be. Our traditional days of just building data warehouses and data lakes so that we can do BI and do some modeling and generate reports for our organization is completely changing. I spoke about AI as number one. In order to really take advantage of AI, you've got to have your data AI ready, and that's going to completely change how you're structuring your data today and how you're utilizing your data today. The risks are changing. As we implement more and more AI and automation, we're going to need to have more and more transparency in how some of those systems are working in order to meet different regulatory requirements that will come down from the government. We all talk about how fast technology changes. If your organization is not agile and able to take advantage of these shifts, you'll kind of be left behind. Part of that also includes upskilling your staff. We need to make sure we're bringing our organization and our human resources along with that so they can be effective, they can innovate, and help our organizations grow and be more profitable.
