This demo walks through the simple VM vending process across HPE's native hypervisor, HVM, and VMware hosts with Morpheus software. Let's begin in the HPE Morpheus dashboard. This dashboard provides customers with a comprehensive view of their entire VM estate for simple monitoring. To provision a new virtual machine, navigate to the Instances page. The Instances page shows comprehensive statistics of all the instances in an environment, including instance count, instance status, and resource utilization. From this page, users can see what already exists in their environment, add a new instance, and more. To provision a new instance, select the Add button at the top of the table. The first step of the VM provisioning process is to select the instance type from the catalog. With HPE Morpheus, users have the choice to configure HPE's native hypervisor, HVM, and VMware virtual machines. For this demo, we will choose to provision an HVM virtual machine, and then select Next to proceed. The next step of creating an instance is setting up your group. Users have roles and belong to groups, which dictate policies like what clouds they can provision into. From this page, confirm the group and cloud you want to provision the instance to, provide a name for the new instance, choose an environment, and then select Next to proceed. The next step is to configure the instance and set some guardrails. Depending on the instance configuration that is chosen, fields will change. This is really where the Morpheus role-based access control comes into play. Within the Layout dropdown, you can enable different versions of application and OS layouts, plus provide options for different layouts like VMs, containers, etc. The Plans dropdown defines the compute resources, like CPU, memory, or storage, allocated to instances during provisioning. Within the Configure step, you can also automatically assign IP addresses, register DNS entries, attach storage, and more through codeless integrations with your existing tech stack. Once everything has been configured on this screen, select Next to proceed. The next step of the instance creation process is automation. From this step, users can easily set up tasks to run, such as a post-provisioning workflow, set up snapshots, or configure a backup job. Note, automation tasks and backups can be set now or at a later time. Once everything is configured on this screen, proceed to the final step. The last step of the instance creation process is to review all the selections made and select Complete to begin provisioning the new VM instance. Within minutes, our instance will appear in the Instances list and its post-provisioning state will be represented. To view our newly created instance, simply select the instance vme-idx-123. Our newly created virtual machine has successfully been provisioned. This page is where users can fully manage a VM instance and view all its details, including utilization, software details, costing, and infrastructure stats.
