as long as some of our platforms and applications. We had a traditional VPN service, which is a connect on logon or pre-logon providing access full scale to the systems. It was a legacy tool, it runs into scalability issues, it runs into performance issues. So there was a need to move away into something more modern, backed by the right service level agreements, but not just that, with the right modern architecture. So yes, absolutely Netscope provides us a ZTNA, we can start reducing those blast doors around the various infrastructures. But also it's backed by the data centers that Netscope has in place. That means the data center is not going to run into overutilization, we're going to maximize that performance, which is critical, but it maintains the stability that we require. I think there's a big benefit we receive from the backbone of Netscope with the service it offers. It means we can offer the same level of controls and the same enforcement, but also the same performance. I think that's the other critical thing. So when we mention balancing security and performance, Netscope has provided that services to us faster routes there, M365, which is the critical tool set that we're generally utilizing as well as private applications.

TL;DR

  • BDO replaced a legacy connect-on-logon VPN with Netskope ZTNA to address persistent scalability and performance limitations in their infrastructure.
  • Netskope ZTNA enables granular access controls that reduce the blast radius of potential security incidents, replacing broad full-scale system access.
  • Netskope's global data center backbone prevents overutilization and delivers faster routing for Microsoft 365 and private applications without compromising stability.

Summary

In this short customer testimonial, a BDO infrastructure professional describes the organization's journey away from a legacy connect-on-logon VPN to a modern Zero Trust Network Access architecture powered by Netskope. The traditional VPN provided full-scale system access by default — a model that introduced significant scalability and performance limitations as the environment grew. By adopting Netskope ZTNA, BDO replaced that broad access model with granular, application-level controls that reduce the blast radius of any potential security incident across their infrastructure. A key factor in the decision was Netskope's global data center backbone, which ensures data centers do not hit overutilization thresholds, maintaining both performance and stability. The speaker highlights that Netskope delivers faster routing for critical workloads including Microsoft 365 and private applications, enabling BDO to enforce consistent security controls without sacrificing end-user experience. The core takeaway is that modern ZTNA architecture can simultaneously improve security posture and network performance — a balance the organization's legacy VPN could not achieve.

FAQ

Why did BDO move away from their traditional VPN?

BDO's legacy VPN operated on a connect-on-logon model that granted full-scale system access, which created scalability and performance issues over time. The organization needed a more modern architecture backed by proper SLAs and granular access controls.

How does Netskope ZTNA improve both security and performance for BDO?

Netskope ZTNA replaces broad VPN access with application-level controls that limit exposure across infrastructure. Simultaneously, Netskope's global data center backbone provides faster routing for tools like Microsoft 365 and private applications, ensuring performance is not sacrificed for security.
