These are three things that you should check out this year in regards to RHEL 10 that we just introduced here at Red Hat Summit. Some of the major things that we talked about this year with RHEL is adding in MCP servers both to RHEL, to Satellite, and to Lightspeed to give you a natural language interface to manage your systems at scale. Number two, Red Hat hearted images. If you've got developers that you want them to start with a close to near zero CVEs that you want to be able to build images securely from the very beginning, we've introduced that with Red Hat heart and images. And then finally, we heard from a lot of our customers that you want to be able to upgrade all of your RHEL systems at scale. You've got hundreds of systems to do that. In addition to the LEAP technology, we've now added in automated workflows with Ansible so you can update all of your RHEL systems at one time. Hopefully you can take advantage of all this. I encourage you to tune into Red Hat TV and see the entire RHEL spotlight session.

TL;DR

  • RHEL 10 introduces MCP servers across RHEL, Satellite, and Lightspeed, providing natural language interfaces for managing Linux systems at enterprise scale.
  • Red Hat Hardened Images launch with near-zero CVEs out of the box, enabling developers to build secure container images from the start of the development lifecycle.
  • Automated upgrade workflows using Ansible complement LEAP technology, allowing administrators to update hundreds of RHEL systems simultaneously across their infrastructure.

Summary

This Red Hat Summit highlight presents three major RHEL 10 capabilities announced at the conference. Chris Wells, Senior Director of Product Marketing for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, introduces MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers integrated across RHEL, Satellite, and Lightspeed to enable natural language system management at scale. The announcement includes Red Hat Hardened Images designed to provide developers with container images starting at near-zero CVEs for secure application development from the outset. Finally, Red Hat addresses enterprise-scale upgrade challenges by combining existing LEAP technology with new Ansible-based automated workflows, enabling administrators to update hundreds of RHEL systems simultaneously. These enhancements target organizations managing large RHEL deployments who need AI-assisted operations, security-first development practices, and streamlined lifecycle management capabilities.

FAQ

What are MCP servers in RHEL 10 and how do they work?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers are integrated into RHEL, Satellite, and Lightspeed to provide natural language interfaces for system management. This allows administrators to interact with and manage RHEL systems at scale using conversational commands rather than traditional CLI or GUI approaches.

How do Red Hat Hardened Images improve container security?

Red Hat Hardened Images are designed to start with near-zero CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures), providing developers with a secure foundation for building container images from the beginning of the development process rather than addressing vulnerabilities after deployment.
