This can be found by going to Admin and then down to our API section where we can view our API documentation. Now the benefit to this is that we can actually utilize a real API key to have calls and also other functionalities that are shown here. So if you're looking to explore Hoodoo's capabilities with its API, all of these are fully functional. Next I'll even show you how to activate the API and make those calls. To get started, we hit this authorize button and we add our key and hit authorize. Now that we have our key added, I can actually use the functionality of each of these calls. So as I scroll down, in this case, we have our article list. As I drop this down, we can see the different field types that we can filter, and this is applicable to all sections of the API. So in this case here, if I hit try it out, I can make sure that I can actually enter in certain fields. So let's say I want to filter company ID and I want to see all of the articles related to company one. I can hit execute and then the functionality will show us all of the articles and the content that the API is pulling through. Additionally, if we want to go into how to discover our company items, I can go over here, type in, get, try out, and just run this blank. And it will still work and show us all of the information we're looking for. If you aren't getting any information back, it might be because of an invalid API key. And I'll show you what that looks like with the same example, because as we can see here, we are pulling in our company info. So in this case, I've removed my API key and I hit authorize. We see that we don't have anything here. So if I were to go back all the way down to my companies and I were to do another get where I execute, we'll see that we get a 500 error. And that's letting us know that we currently don't have a valid API. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to us or comment down below. Thank you.

TL;DR

  • Hudu's API documentation includes an interactive Swagger page accessible from Admin > API that allows users to execute live API calls directly within their instance.
  • Users must authorize with a valid API key to test API functionality, with the interface providing real-time feedback on query results and error states.
  • The Swagger interface supports filtering across all API endpoints, enabling users to test specific queries like retrieving articles by company ID before implementing in production code.

Summary

This tutorial demonstrates how to navigate and utilize Hudu's interactive API documentation through its built-in Swagger interface. The video walks through accessing the API documentation from the Admin panel, authorizing with an API key, and executing live API calls directly within the Swagger page. Viewers learn how to filter results using various parameters, such as retrieving articles by company ID, and how to troubleshoot common issues like invalid API key errors. The interactive nature of the Swagger documentation allows users to test API functionality in real-time within their Hudu instance, making it an essential resource for developers and administrators looking to integrate or automate workflows with Hudu's API.
