My name is Matt Bayless. I'm a Product Marketing Manager here for Cove Data Protection at Enable. And today I'm going to walk through the Cove 26.5 release, starting off with the main highlight, which is the Halo PSA integration. This integration allows you to map your Cove customers to your Halo customers and auto create tickets for any backup failures detected in Cove. So if no open ticket already exists for that affected device, a new ticket is made and that ticket is populated with the proper and relevant backup information, according to that failure. If a ticket already exists in Halo PSA, that ticket is updated with the relevant backup failure information. So that way you're keeping a clean, clear, consolidated view of that issue and its history. For more information on how to set up the integration and how it will work in your environment, you'll find a walkthrough video below in the release notes. Moving over to Microsoft 365, we made some improvements to Exchange Online backup performance, making them faster and more efficient. We've also improved the restore reliability of Exchange mailboxes. So previously the restore UI would show no resource available, or no sessions available rather for long running backup sessions, preventing restores of otherwise valid backups. So now restore coverage is actually extended to include these long running backup sessions, ensuring that Exchange mailbox restores are going to work more reliably across various scenarios and reduce restore related escalations. Moving over to the continuity side of things, Cove DRAST is now available in public preview. And in this release, we've made some improvements to the VPN agent token entry. So now the initialization token uses a shorter, clearer format of 52 characters split into 13 groups of four. This is going to make token entry easier for you to input and less error prone. For those of you who are not currently participating in the Cove DRAST public preview and would like to do so, you can learn more about that in the release notes below. Last but not least, in today's release, recovery testing now has a backup session time column in the recovery testing dashboard. So this column will show the timestamp of the backup session used for the latest recovery test, making it easier for you to confirm that recent backup data was used. And if the timestamp is outdated, it may indicate that backups should be checked. Well, there you have it, folks. That's Cove 26.5. Make sure to check out the resources and events at the bottom of the release notes. Have an amazing day, and I'll see you next time.

TL;DR

  • New Halo PSA integration automatically creates and updates tickets for Cove backup failures, mapping customers between platforms and consolidating issue tracking.
  • Exchange Online backup performance improvements deliver faster, more efficient backups with enhanced restore reliability for long-running backup sessions.
  • Cove DRAST public preview introduces simplified VPN agent token entry with a clearer 52-character format split into 13 groups of four characters.

Summary

This release overview introduces N-able Cove Data Protection version 26.5, highlighting key enhancements across backup management, Microsoft 365 protection, and disaster recovery capabilities. The flagship feature is the new Halo PSA integration, which automates ticket creation for backup failures by mapping Cove customers to Halo PSA accounts. When a backup failure is detected, the system automatically generates tickets with relevant failure details, or updates existing tickets to maintain a consolidated issue history. Additional improvements include enhanced Exchange Online backup performance and restore reliability, addressing previous limitations where long-running backup sessions would incorrectly display as unavailable for restore. The release also advances Cove DRAST (Disaster Recovery as a Service) with a simplified VPN agent token format and introduces a backup session timestamp column in the recovery testing dashboard for easier validation of test data currency.

Key Quotes

0:19 "This integration allows you to map your Cove customers to your Halo customers and auto create tickets for any backup failures detected in Cove."
1:19 "Now restore coverage is actually extended to include these long running backup sessions, ensuring that Exchange mailbox restores are going to work more reliably across various scenarios and reduce restore related escalations."
1:50 "This is going to make token entry easier for you to input and less error prone."

FAQ

How does the Halo PSA integration handle duplicate tickets for the same backup failure?

The integration checks for existing open tickets for the affected device before creating new ones. If a ticket already exists in Halo PSA, it updates that ticket with the latest backup failure information rather than creating duplicates, maintaining a consolidated view of the issue and its history.

What does the new backup session time column in recovery testing show?

The column displays the timestamp of the backup session used for the latest recovery test, allowing administrators to quickly verify that recent backup data was used. An outdated timestamp may indicate that backups need to be checked or that the recovery test is using stale data.
