This is specifically useful for making sure that you are able to see who is creating, viewing, editing, and perhaps even deleting your documentation. Hoodoo provides this feature through the use of our activity logs and revision history. Starting here on the dashboard, we have a section labeled Activity Feed. Each time I log into Hoodoo, I can see everything that is being accomplished within our Hoodoo instance. Maybe the activity feed shows me that one of my technicians updated a password. Well, now I know that and I have the log showing me that this change to our documentation has happened. As I click View All, this will take me to the activity feed location. This will take me to the activity feed located in the Admin section. Here I can view and sort between different activities in the log that my team has accomplished. Maybe I want to find when a password was deleted for a certain company, and here I am able to do exactly that. Now, jumping into a company, let's go into the KB section and click into an article. Right here, as I scroll down on my right-hand sidebar, you will notice two sections, Updates and Views. The Views section is going to function the exact same way as we just saw with the global activity feed. This is just another place to find the information if you know the exact piece of documentation you are looking for. The other section, Updates, serves as Hoodoo's revision history feature. If I ever want to see the last time this article was changed, I can click into the most recent update of the article. Here I can see when the previous changes were made and who made them, as well as jump back to any previous version I would like. The revision history will go all the way back to when the article was created. If I want to see the direct changes between the current and previous version, I can click Compare Differences. This will show me the code of the article and allow me to see exactly what has been taken out and added in from our previous version. Hoodoo does also have revision history for all passwords and assets, along with the Compare Differences feature for those assets. You can use change control features to ensure your documentation is constantly being logged, so if you end up needing to go back to find something or are ever wondering when an item changed or what was changed, it is all there for you and easy to find.

TL;DR

  • Hudu's Activity Feed provides a centralized dashboard showing all documentation changes across your instance, including who created, edited, or deleted content and when those actions occurred.
  • Revision History tracks every change to knowledge base articles, passwords, and assets, allowing you to view previous versions and restore them if needed.
  • The Compare Differences feature shows code-level changes between versions, highlighting exactly what content was added or removed in each update.

Summary

This tutorial demonstrates Hudu's change control capabilities through Activity Logs and Revision History features. The Activity Feed provides a centralized view of all documentation changes across the instance, tracking who creates, views, edits, or deletes content. Users can filter activities by type and company to quickly locate specific changes, such as password deletions or article updates. The Revision History feature enables detailed tracking of individual documentation items, allowing teams to view previous versions, identify who made changes and when, and compare differences between versions using a code-level comparison tool. These features extend to knowledge base articles, passwords, and assets, providing comprehensive audit trails for documentation management. The combination of global activity monitoring and granular revision tracking ensures MSPs maintain visibility and accountability across their documentation ecosystem.
