Data location refers to the physical storage of data in a specific geography, such as European data centers. Sovereign Cloud goes further by ensuring the cloud provider itself is subject to local jurisdiction, preventing foreign governments from ordering data access without customer knowledge. A US provider storing data in Europe is still subject to US jurisdiction, while a European provider offers jurisdictional immunity.
