called agent last check-in. So what we're going to do is click that last check-in and now you can quickly see the last time this has checked into NCentral. Again giving you a way to see when agents may have failed, how long ago, those kinds of things. Equally, what we're going to do is we're going to come down to configuration, we're going to click on asset discovery, and we're going to come into discovered assets. In here what we're going to do is now I can show ignore devices, but importantly I'm going to now be able to turn on things like WMI, registry, NetBIOS, SNMP, admin share, SSH, and agent version. So from here, that's a lot of columns we have just added, but in here what you're going to be able to do is see what may be problematic during the discovery. Why is it in the imported discovered assets? Well maybe we're not able to see WMI on the Windows endpoint. Maybe we're not able to query SNMP from one of the network devices. So again, this is going to be able to provide you, our partner, clear visibility as to where problems may lie during a discovery.

TL;DR

  • New "Agent Last Check-in" column enables quick identification of failed or stale agents by showing the most recent communication timestamp with N-Central
  • Enhanced asset discovery interface now displays protocol-specific status for WMI, registry, NetBIOS, SNMP, admin share, and SSH to diagnose discovery failures
  • Visibility improvements help MSP partners troubleshoot why discovered devices fail to import by identifying specific communication or protocol issues

Summary

This demonstration showcases two new visibility enhancements in N-Central designed to help MSPs troubleshoot agent connectivity and asset discovery issues. The first feature is an "Agent Last Check-in" column that displays when each agent last communicated with N-Central, enabling partners to quickly identify failed or stale agents. The second enhancement expands the asset discovery interface with detailed protocol status columns including WMI, registry, NetBIOS, SNMP, admin share, SSH, and agent version information. These additions provide granular visibility into why devices may appear in discovered assets but fail to import properly, helping partners diagnose communication failures and protocol-specific issues during the discovery process. The improvements are aimed at reducing troubleshooting time and improving asset management accuracy for N-able partners managing client environments.

FAQ

How does the Agent Last Check-in column help with troubleshooting?

The column displays the most recent timestamp when each agent communicated with N-Central, allowing you to quickly identify agents that have stopped checking in and determine how long they've been offline, which helps prioritize remediation efforts.

What protocol issues can the enhanced asset discovery interface help identify?

The interface shows status for WMI, registry, NetBIOS, SNMP, admin share, SSH, and agent version, helping you diagnose why discovered devices aren't importing properly by revealing which specific communication protocols are failing or blocked.
