The Labor Revenue Report is your go-to tool. It helps you track revenue, monitor technician efficiency, and optimize your operations – all in one comprehensive report. In this video, we'll walk through how to access and use this feature to unlock valuable insights for your business. To get started, head over to the Labor Revenue Report. Keep in mind, this feature is only accessible to users with the MSP admin role. You can customize how the report calculates revenue. Click the settings icon to choose between data from the billing queue or invoiced items. This flexibility ensures you're looking at the exact numbers you need for analysis. You can adjust the timeframe of the report to be either last year or the current year. The report is divided into three powerful sections. The Revenue Overview offers a snapshot of your financial metrics. For example, the Labor Revenue displays the total income earned from hourly billed services. Effective Labor Revenue reveals your average revenue per billable hour, helping you identify your most profitable services and Annual Labor Revenue – YTD – tracks your revenue year to date, so you can see how your business is performing overall. Next, we have Service Utilization, which highlights your top performing and least profitable services. You'll see the top 10 and bottom 10 services by profit, along with the number of hours billed for each. This helps you focus on what's working and refine or rethink what's not. Finally, the Technician Utilization section provides detailed insights into your team's performance. For each technician, you'll see the cost per technician, the revenue they're generating, and the profit per technician. With this data, you can easily identify high-performing technicians and spot areas for improvement. High Utilization? That's great. Low Utilization? It might be time to rethink assignments, schedules, or even invest in training.

TL;DR

  • SuperOps' Labor Revenue Report enables MSPs to track technician-level profitability through three analytical views: Revenue Overview, Service Utilization, and Technician Utilization, with customizable data sources and timeframes.
  • The report identifies top and bottom performing services by profit margin, helping MSPs focus resources on high-value offerings while refining or eliminating unprofitable service lines.
  • Technician-level metrics including cost, revenue generation, and profit contribution allow MSPs to optimize team assignments, identify training opportunities, and improve overall service delivery efficiency.

Summary

This tutorial demonstrates how MSPs can leverage SuperOps' Labor Revenue Report to track technician-level profitability and optimize service delivery. The report provides three key analytical views: Revenue Overview tracking total labor income, effective revenue per billable hour, and year-to-date performance; Service Utilization identifying the top 10 and bottom 10 services by profit margin with associated billable hours; and Technician Utilization showing per-technician cost, revenue generation, and profit contribution. Users can customize the report to pull data from either the billing queue or invoiced items, and adjust timeframes to view current year or prior year performance. The feature is restricted to MSP admin role users and designed to help service providers identify high-performing technicians, optimize resource allocation, and make data-driven decisions about training investments and service portfolio refinement.

FAQ

Who can access the Labor Revenue Report in SuperOps?

The Labor Revenue Report is only accessible to users with the MSP admin role. This restriction ensures that sensitive financial and performance data remains available only to authorized personnel with appropriate oversight responsibilities.

What's the difference between billing queue and invoiced items as data sources?

The billing queue option shows revenue from services that have been billed but may not yet be invoiced, while invoiced items reflect only completed invoicing transactions. This flexibility allows MSPs to analyze either pipeline revenue or realized revenue depending on their reporting needs.
