As a former Fed, I can tell you the excitement level this last day has been extremely high. You've got a room full of Feds and contractors that support the Feds that are dealing with urgent issues, which really resonates with me as a cyber guy. They come here to get some information on not only how to use the product, but how to manage a risk-based cybersecurity program and understand some of the best-in-class things that Veeam as a company is up to. But I think coming here to Veeam, for me, it's like coming home. These are guys and gals who run these massive IT programs under very difficult circumstances sometimes. So, the idea that I'm back in the city giving some help to those alums of mine is really meaningful to me. I think it's a really important location for VeeamON to continue to grow because the sense of urgency here and so many operational missions that rely on cyber defense and resiliency are the real world here. It's not, you know, it's not hypothetical. I usually don't use a prop, but I'm going to use one today. I was issued a challenge coin, and this one's for a department and a mission, and I think to me the biggest reflection whenever I'm spending time in D.C., the work here is different. Meaning different from its level of importance, what is the criticality of what's happening, and the concept of a mission, and I was like listening to some of the speakers, some of the folks from our customers and our partners, it all centers around a mission. It's much bigger than an earnings call, it's much bigger than the corporate stuff I spend a lot of my time, it's about how do you protect the country and most of the world as well. So every IT initiative, every project, everything is tied to a mission, and our mission at Veeam is to provide the data and AI trust platform for our customers and our partners to carry their missions forward.

TL;DR

  • VeeamON Tour D.C. drew federal employees and contractors focused on cyber resilience, risk management, and mission-critical IT operations in a high-urgency environment.
  • Gil Vega, a former federal cybersecurity professional, highlighted the unique stakes facing government IT practitioners and the personal significance of supporting that community.
  • Shiva Pillay used a challenge coin to underscore that federal work is mission-driven — far beyond corporate priorities — and tied Veeam's purpose directly to protecting the country.

Summary

This short event recap captures post-event reflections from Gil Vega and Shiva Pillay following VeeamON Tour CONVERGE in Washington, D.C. The event brought together federal government employees and contractors to discuss cybersecurity resilience, risk-based program management, and Veeam's role in supporting critical national missions. Gil Vega, speaking as a former federal cybersecurity professional, emphasizes the unique urgency of the D.C. audience — practitioners managing large-scale IT programs under high-stakes conditions where cyber defense is not hypothetical but operationally critical. Shiva Pillay reinforces the mission-centric framing, using a challenge coin as a symbol of the weight and importance of federal work, and positions Veeam's purpose as providing a data and AI trust platform that enables customers and partners to carry their missions forward. The event signals Veeam's deliberate push into the federal market, framing its platform not merely as backup software but as foundational infrastructure for national resilience and AI-era data trust.
