To convert virtual machine to OVIRT or to OVIRT virtualization platform So let's get started and we're starting with the first step even prior to start the conversion And in that step is making sure that the virtual machine that you're planning to convert is powered off Otherwise conversion will fail and you won't get the proper result So currently StarWin VTV converter doesn't support the so-called hot conversion of the virtual machine to OVIRT platform So before starting the conversion make sure that your virtual machine is powered off I already prepared everything so we can start the conversion and we're starting it by running StarWin VTV converter So now we're selecting the source system in my case for today, I'm converting the Hyper-V virtual machine So I'm selecting Microsoft Hyper-V server I'm putting the credentials of the server. So I'm pointing it pointing the VTV converter to it. Yes So let me just quickly put it IP address user And password Okay, so we establish the connection between converter and Source server, so we're selecting our virtual machine again before starting conversion Make sure that virtual machine is powered off. So we're selecting our virtual machine now We're selecting Destination or the target system in our case OVIRT. So we're selecting this OVIRT option Now we're putting information about our destination system. So here important note your VTV converter not to the OVIRT host itself, but to OVIRT engine Which is controlling the virtualization and all of everything that is related to it So we're pointing it to our OVIRT engine VM So let me grab the information of it and put it here User And the password for the user So we established the connection so now we're setting up the new virtual machine so we put in its name Let's give it this name then we put in the description of this VM. So it's test VM Now we're selecting the storage the storage domain for our new virtual machine We don't have any template. So we're left in it blank as well. We select in the cluster for our new virtual machine Next step is very important. So you're selecting the operating system The type of operating system for in the new virtual machine. It should be identical with the source one otherwise the conversion could fail or Boom, you won't get the proper result for the conversion. Yeah, so I have a debian 7 as it listed Now we're selecting chipset. I have the default one, but as well you selecting here the proper configuration We have we're selecting the source disk of the source virtual machine that we're going to convert We're assigning memory and the number of the virtual CPUs for our VM Once you finished with all of those steps, you just click convert to start the conversion Once it's finished. You're going to your OVIRT system and checking your new virtual machine. So you powering on it Checking if it's running correctly if it's running at all If it is you're checking data on the virtual machine If everything is good and correct, you're good to go. So you can do Can further work with your new virtual machine or start the new conversions to bring more virtual machines to your OVIRT environment So yeah, so you're good to go with everything. So now everyone you have all of those steps That are needed to complete the conversion of the virtual machine to the OVIRT environment So I hope you learn something new about the virtualization today If you learned about the new tool in your arsenal that you can use in day-to-day life And yeah, so thank you for being with me on this video Stay safe, and I see you next one
