Mike Matchett of Small World Big Data inquires about controlling cloud costs and maximizing the benefits of hybrid environments while minimizing expenses. Vengopal Pai of Nutanix explains that in previous years, the focus was often on public cloud agility, regardless of the cost. However, in 2023, cost control and governance have become top priorities for organizations using public cloud. A survey conducted by Nutanix shows that 55% of customers want a better understanding of their costs and identify areas for cost savings. Customers are seeking Nutanix's assistance in achieving these goals while gaining control over their expenses. Nutanix offers technology solutions, such as cost savings and governance tools, as well as cloud clusters that enable customers to pay based on consumption. Pai also mentions the possibility of rehoming or repatriating applications to more cost-effective locations. Another speaker emphasizes the importance of avoiding infrastructure silos, as they make it challenging to gain a holistic view of cloud costs. Nutanix's tooling provides visibility and cost analysis for native cloud workloads across AWS, Azure, and GCP, as well as on-premises and Nutanix infrastructure running in the public cloud.
