Today's video will be a short tutorial on how to upgrade the nodes of our SVHCI cluster. To start, we simply click on the System tab on the left-hand side of the screen. Then, we need to select Upgrade Firmware. From here, we will choose our firmware image to upload. Once the firmware image has been uploaded, we can see the active firmware version is different from the boot firmware version. To complete the upgrade, we just need to reboot our SVHCI node. To do this, just click on System Power on the left-hand menu and then choose Restart. You will see a message that the SVHCI node is rebooting and once complete, this screen will refresh. Now that our system is back up, we can see that our SVHCI node has been updated to the latest firmware version. Now we just need to complete the same process for our second node. I hope you enjoyed this quick SVHCI firmware upgrade video. Be sure to like and subscribe for more videos on StoreMagic products and features.

TL;DR

  • SvHCI firmware upgrades are completed through a simple web interface workflow: navigate to System tab, select Upgrade Firmware, upload the firmware image, and reboot the node.
  • The upgrade process requires verifying that the active firmware version differs from the boot firmware version before rebooting to complete the installation.
  • For multi-node clusters, the same upgrade procedure is repeated for each node individually to bring the entire cluster to the latest firmware version.

Summary

This tutorial demonstrates the straightforward process for upgrading firmware on StorMagic SvHCI hyperconverged infrastructure nodes. The upgrade workflow involves accessing the System tab in the management interface, selecting the firmware upgrade option, uploading the new firmware image, and rebooting the node to complete the installation. The process is designed to be simple and quick, requiring minimal steps to keep SvHCI systems current with the latest firmware versions. The demonstration shows the upgrade being performed on a two-node cluster, with each node following the same upgrade procedure. StorMagic emphasizes that this streamlined approach enables administrators to maintain system security and performance without operational disruption, making it particularly suitable for edge computing deployments and remote sites where simplicity and reliability are critical.
