While RDMA has been heralded as an essential ingredient of NVMe-oF, there are alternatives. The RDMA stack has several limitations and issues that make it difficult and expensive to utilize. Solarflare’s TCP-based NVMe-oF technology provides equal or better latencies than RDMA-based NVMe-oF approaches, without the expense or difficulties.
Note: This will only deal with the kernel-based NVMe-oF, and not the user-space version.
